VFR Aircraft Checkout Standards

Ground Requirements

(Approximately 0.5 to 1.0 hour)

The following items must be covered before the checkout flight. The flight instructor may add additional items as they deem necessary.

Westwind policies and procedures for renter pilots.
Aircraft checkout written test.
Weight and balance calculations.
Chart reading.
Applicable airspace.
Density altitude considerations.

Flight Requirements

(Approximately 1.0 to 1.5 hours)

The aircraft checkout flight is conducted as an evaluation. The pilot must show proficiency in aircraft operation. Depending on pilot experience, one or all of the following items will be covered during the aircraft checkout flight. The flight instructor may add additional items as they deem necessary.

At least three landings.
At least one stall.
Steep turns
Flight to an airport other than DVT (optional at customer request)
Class Bravo transition (optional at customer request)
